End 2025 with clarity, confidence, and a plan for 2026
This time of year is chaotic for most business owners.
You’re trying to wrap up annual numbers, keep holiday sales moving, finish lingering projects, and somehow still plan for a successful new year.
If you’re feeling pulled in a million directions, you’re not alone.
That’s exactly what our founder, Angela Arnold, addressed in her most recent webinar: The Q4 2025 Marketing Sprint. Read the summary below to learn simple ways to review the year, prioritize what matters, and prepare for the next.
We’ve also created a handy fillable guide you can use for strategic planning.
Want to create your own guide? Here's a breakdown of what to include
Part 1: The Audit
Step 1: Review
Start by listing:
- The major initiatives you completed this year
- Your in-progress projects
- Anything lagging, stalled, or repeatedly pushed aside
Step 2: Refine
Evaluate what helped—or hindered—your progress. Give each a fast, instinctive A–F grade. Don’t overthink it. Your gut knows what’s working:
- Campaigns
- Channels
- Tools & tech
- Vendors
- Internal processes
- Team contributions
Step 3: Retire or Renew
Ask yourself:
- What worked well?
- What didn’t?
- What drained energy or resources?
- What deserves one final push before Dec 31?
- What carries into next year?
- What can you finally let go of?
Part 2: The “Gentle Shutdown”
Instead of slamming on the brakes at year-end, try a “gentle shutdown”. This is a strategic slowdown that protects momentum while reducing overwhelm.
This approach helps you:
- Maintain marketing traction
- Avoid stressful last-minute decisions
- Clean up assets and creative
- Use remaining budget wisely
- Boost focus and productivity
Key actions include:
- Scheduling ad spend changes early
- Refreshing outdated creatives
- Cleaning up landing pages
- Reinvesting remaining ad budget strategically
- Preparing January evergreen campaigns now
Part 3: Year End Tasks
Take care of the following before the year ends:
- Clean up your project management system
- Deprioritize or move deadlines on low-impact tasks
- Create a one-page Q1 Readiness Sheet, including:
- Annual + quarterly goals
- Messaging themes
- Campaign priorities
- KPIs to monitor
- Pre-schedule team kickoffs and recurring reports
- Block the first two weeks of January for strategy, not reaction
Part 4: The Team Reset
Host a 1.5-hour wrap-up meeting and ask your team to bring:
- Wins from the year
- Lessons learned
- What energized them / what drained them
- Stop / Start / Continue insights
- Anything they’re ready to “have a funeral for”
This creates alignment and a shared understanding heading into 2026.
Part 5: The "Future You" Email
To help your January self start strong, write an email to yourself then schedule it for January 5th.
Include:
- What you accomplished in this year
- What you’re most proud of
- What to focus on first in the new year
- What can wait
